There was quite a lot of action and excitement that was generated among poker fans Down Under at the Star Sydney Championships.


For instance, Nurlan Boobekov was able to hold onto his leading position till the final day of the Main Event and came away a winner with AU$84, 735. With his winnings he was already planning to join in other events and use his prize money to do so. Besides the Main Event there were other events that gained a lot of participation, such as the High Roller event of AU$20, 000 buy-in. This was an attraction for most of the pro players as they felt that there was bigger money on offer where re-entries were allowed as well. Hence, for the high rollers this event saw a lot of participation.

There was a ladies event as well that had a buy in amount of AU$330. This was a manageable risk that many lady players were willing to take. Suzy Khoueis was rumored to be a winner among the participants here and she did live up to the reputation, as she had done in the ladies event of WSOP Sydney that was held in 2016. This year the talk that started becoming reality as Suzy breezed through some tough situations at the final tables. She was also up against Hannah Lee, who had won the 2016 championships in Sydney and was a tough contender this year. The game overall was close and exciting to watch for the fans and others.
